Red/ Blue Tsumugi Quilted Reversible Vest (S)

Sale Price:$180.00 Original Price:$230.00
sale

This reversible quilted vest is made from two vintage Tsumugi Kimonos.

Tsumugi 紬 yarns are made from irregular-shaped cocoons called Kuzumayu, which were once considered not fit for spinning even, fine silk threads. Compared to the shine of ordinary silk fabric, Tsumugi has a matte surface. Containing naturally formed slubs, Tsumugi yarns are durable, yet lightweight. Historically, Tsumugi was worn by farmers, samurai and merchants as casual wear. Although Tsumugi was once thought of as a sub-par textile, it is now highly sought after by Japanese Kimono connoisseurs.

US Size Small (Bust 36)

100% silk
Cotton batting
Dry clean recommended

This vest can be washed by hand in cold water and laid flat/ hung to dry. Please note, washing will result in a crinkly quilted texture.
