ABOUT YUKI
Yuki (she/her) was born in rural Japan and relocated with her parents to New York City at the age of eight. She identifies as Japanese American and Asian American.
Yuki has a background in fine art photography and documentary film. She always been passionate about sustainability, and began making her own clothes after becoming disillusioned by the waste produced by fast fashion.
After living in the U.S. for over thirty years, she has returned to her hometown in Ibaraki prefecture, where she makes clothing and accessories from vintage Kimonos and Obis.
She is excited to share her culture with the world while exploring the nuanced topic of cultural ownership.
