














Indigo Sashiko Furoshiki Jacket
This jacket is made from a vintage Furoshiki. Furoshiki 風呂敷 are traditional Japanese wrapping cloths traditionally used to wrap and/or to transport goods. This Furoshiki is dyed with Aizomé 藍染 or Japanese Indigo is derived from the Persicaria Tinctoria plant, which has long been revered for its beautiful hues and antibacterial properties. From plant to dye, it takes about a year to produce, which includes a fermentation process. Different shades of blue are produced by adjusting the fermentation time. Aizomé, which has been perfected since before the 16th century has now become synonymous with Japanese textile design. It also features Sashiko, traditional Japanese embroidery.
