Tsumugi Kimono Wrap Dress (Medium)

This dress is made from a vintage Tsumugi Kimono. Tsumugi 紬 yarns are made from irregular-shaped cocoons called Kuzumayu, which were once considered not fit for spinning even, fine silk threads. Compared to the shine of ordinary silk fabric, Tsumugi has a matte surface. Containing naturally formed slubs, Tsumugi yarns are durable, yet lightweight. Historically, Tsumugi was worn by farmers, samurai and merchants as casual wear. Although Tsumugi was once thought of as a sub-par textile, it is now highly sought after by Japanese Kimono connoisseurs.

This dress has 3/4 sleeves, bust darts, straight skirt, and matching ribbon ties.
