Sho-Chiku-Bai Tsukesage Kimono Dress (Small)

This dress is made from a vintage Tsukesage Kimono. Tsukesage 付け下げ Kimono are considered semi-formal. This type of gentle transition of color wash is called Bokashi, and the design features Sho-Chiku-Bai - 松竹梅 an auspicious triumvirate of pine, bamboo and plum. These three plants are considered powerful because pine and bamboo remain green year-round and plum is among the first trees to flower in the spring. Together these elements represent the attributes of longevity (pine), scholarly and pure spirit (plum), and flexibility (bamboo).

This dress is semi-fitted, Midi length, with a Bateau neckline, flutter sleeves, six panel flared skirt and a hidden zip back closure.
