Furisodé Kimono are the most decadent type of Kimono worn by unmarried women on formal occasions. The Kanji for Furisodé #振袖 literally translates to shake/ swing and sleeves. Furisodé Kimonos are often brightly colored with gold accents, and the long sleeves swing round and round as the woman walks, a clear advertisement that she is available for marriage.

This Furisodé Kimono features Cranes. Cranes play an important role in Japanese folklore as characters representing sacrifice and loyalty, they are said to live one thousand years and symbolize long life.
