Hamanoshima Sumo Vintage Yukata Button Down Shirt (Large)

This button down shirt is made from vintage Yukata cotton. One side features the name of the name Hamanoshima, a former Sumo wrestler who reached top Makuuchi division in 1994. His highest rank was Komusubi. After his retirement from active competition in 2004 he became an elder of the Japan Sumo Association and founded Onoe stable in 2006, which has produced a number of top division wrestlers.

This vintage Yukata textile is dyed in the Honzomé method, a traditional stencil and resist dye technique developed during the Meiji era. Features a breast pocket on the left side and shell buttons.
